We have to start somewhere.

I’m Nicola, a Senior Art Director and Designer originally from South Africa. Growing up in South Africa meant that I’m generally alright with things not always going according to plan. That being said, I’m not very calm when the WiFi stops working.

I’ve worked with many Illustrators, editors, producers along the way and want to say thank you for all the collaboration you see in this portfolio. Two heads is always better than one.

With over a decade of experience in design, advertising, and branding, I began my journey as a Junior Art Director at Ogilvy & Mather in 2013. There, I had the opportunity to create conceptual campaigns for iconic brands like Volkswagen, AB InBev, Heinz, Castrol, Revlon, and Barbie. After four dynamic years at Ogilvy, I was granted an O-1 visa for “Individuals with Extraordinary Ability in the Arts,” leading me to explore new horizons across continents.

I spent a few years in San Francisco, working for agencies that housed influential brands: Spotify, Open-Table, Uber and The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

More recently, I leaped into the Biotech space, at Illumina, continuing my passion for purpose-driven work and being a part of launching million dollar instruments and software. I am constantly looking to impact the world through creativity and design systems. Human connection, art and design are a huge part of my world.

These days, you can find me working from my home office in New York, with my loyal pup, Wilbur, by my side.
